Chef Akash Sarkar is from Bachra, Jharkhand, in the eastern part of India. Inspired by his father, Chef Samar Sarkar, he began his passion for food at a young age. Akash’s deep love for culinary arts ignited a lasting passion and paved the way for a successful career in the culinary field.
Over ten years, Chef Akash honed his skills in various kitchens, specializing in Indian, French, Italian, and continental cuisines, learning from some of the finest chefs. His professional culinary journey began in 2013 after graduating in Hotel Management, where he worked at The Grand Oberoi Kolkata and The Oberoi Mumbai, India. In the next chapter of his career, he embraced new challenges at fine dining establishments in the JW Marriott Hotel, San Antonio, USA. In 2017, he relocated to Australia, taking on the role of head chef for several restaurant projects.
Chef Akash envisioned creating “Pangaat,” a fusion of traditional Indian flavors with modern influences. The menu at Pangaat showcases a curated selection of Indian dishes that reflect his refined culinary style while maintaining simplicity.
